Conference Calling Services. All
The Options!
Conference call services come in a variety of types and
packages. The more expensive, but effective conference bridge
systems. You can make conference calls from landlines and even
mobile phones. And then there's the future of online conference call
services.
Basically a typical audio conference call is a telephone call
but multiple people can talk or listen in to the call. Hence the
conference bit. It is optional whether you would like users to be
able to join in the conversation or if you would like them just to
listen in. It is often referred to as an ATC. ATC means Audio
Tele-Conference. Audio conference calls are commonly used when
multiple clients and colleagues in separate offices or even
different parts of the world want to confer on issues as a group. It
enables people to communicate on a far wider scale then in the past.
It is also far more cost effective than the traditional telephone
call.

The main system for conference calling is through something
called a conference bridge. Large companies have these installed
to allow greater flexibility for communication. A conference
bridge is basically a small telephone network linking all offices
and any other rooms necessary. You usually find that these
services are provided by specialist providers to maintain and
operate the business end of the conference bridge. This is because
it is a very technical piece of equipment to understand and most
people would struggle to use it. Of course this will raise the
price and this is why you will only usually find them at large
companies.
Small and large businesses use conference call services
regularly. Many do on a daily basis for team meetings, training,
client meetings and general communication with staff and
colleagues on site and off site. Conference calling is widely seen
as a cost cutter because it minimizes the need for staff to travel
from the office.

Audio conference calls can be made in the office or at home.
Many conference calling companies will charge extra for these
services if it's from a normal landline though. You can even hold an
audio conference call via your mobile phone these days. But with the
constant expansion and improvement of the internet, online
conference calls are becoming increasingly popular. This is the low
cost conference call option and a lot of services are actually free
to use. Skype messenger is an excellent example. Up to five people
can participate in a conference all for free. Within time I'm sure
this will improve and more people will be able to join in. So long
as everyone has Skype messenger installed. This is without a doubt
my favorite option. In time you may see companies like Skype put
expensive conference calling companies down in the closet.
These day's conference calls are not limited to use by
businesses. More and more people use conference calling services for
personal use. Groups of friends and family often make conference
calls to keep in contact with people whether they are nearby or
spread around the country or even the world.
The shear number of people using conference call services
tells us that it is becoming one of the favored ways of
communicating in the business industry in modern times. People take
advantage of low cost conference calls, less traveling for meetings
etc and the ability to run a business on an international scale from
a single location. Although conference calling companies are readily
available in many corners of the world, in many countries it is very
limited. Because lack of money mainly but some countries simply live
basic lifestyles, and who can blame them. So therefore these
countries have insufficient facilities to communicate with the wider
community.
As well as the audio conference call, conference call
services these days include video conferencing, data transfer and
more. And with the ever improving technologies on the market the
services are becoming easily available and more affordable. Services
like Skype messenger offer people in poorer countries, who are lucky
enough to have access to the internet, the chance to work for
clients around the world. And the best part about Skype is it free
to contact all other Skype users. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and
365 days of the year. Services like this and other similar services
including Windows Live messenger are the future of conference call
services. They are cost free and extremely reliable!
In the end though, as with all great things, there is a major
issue with the conference calling service. As it is still reasonably
new technology it is hard to police effectively. Private conference
calling companies have the freedom to charge anything they please.
And because of the ignorance of some customers, they get away with
doing so. Clients monitor and dictate the contents of any conference
calls they may make. So then they should have equal access to
information such as costs and charges for any conference calling
services. This is the most negative aspect of the industry. However
it is up to you, the customer to decide what services you want and
what company you use.
So a quick summery now. For larger corporate organizations
the most popular choice is to install professional conference
bridge. These services are excellent but come at a very high cost.
Then for smaller businesses they get two main choices. The first
being the use of landline telephones. These come at an extra cost
but nothing like the costs of conference bridges. And finally, my
personal favorite, the use of the ever improving instant messaging
programs like Skype. More and more people use these messengers for
work and personal use. This is by far the cheapest form of
conference calling. Any Skype user can speak to another, 100% free.
You can't ask for more then that.
So there you have it. I think that just about covers
everything for now. I hope you find this information useful and
thanks very much for taking the time to read.
